Setup

Optimization setup

This table provides setup parameters for the optimization job.

Tip

  • Multiple optimization setups can be defined but only one can be active at a time (Use checkbox :ballot_box_with_check: ).

The optimization type allows to run different types of optimizations :

  • ”Frozen” optimization that relies only on frozen productions and existing lot and allocations.

  • “Normal” optimization that considers new lots and new allocations.

The optimization strategy to use depends on the complexity of the scenario and is chosen from the list of strategies pre-configured in the Master Data. A strategy is a particular trade-off between speed and quality.

Tip

  • We recommend to first start with the recommended strategy. Then, a faster strategy (smaller window and/or shorter iterations) can be selected if the solution remains stable. However, a slower strategy (wider window and/or longer iterations) must be selected if the solution quality is not sufficient.

    • There is no optimization strategy that fits to all projects.

The planning horizon is defined by the “date from” and “date to” and is related to the demands to cover.

All demands with a date outside the planning horizon will be ignored.

Reporting setup

This form provides default values for the Excel export setup parameters.

Tip

  • These parameters can still be modified at the time of the report generation.

Since in general, DS, DP or IMP production phases could be made up with multiple stages (for example DP
could comprise two stages, primary DP and assembled DP), the user has to inform the system which stages defined in the project should be used as representing DS, DP and IMP phases in the report.
